Measure Homology and Singular Homology Are Isometrically Isomorphic

چکیده

Measure homology is a variation of singular homology designed by Thurston in his discussion of simplicial volume. Zastrow and Hansen showed independently that singular homology (with real coefficients) and measure homology coincide algebraically on the category of CW-complexes. It is the aim of this paper to prove that this isomorphism is isometric with respect to the `1-seminorm on singular homology and the seminorm on measure homology induced by the total variation. This, in particular, implies that one can calculate the simplicial volume via measure homology – as already claimed by Thurston. For example, measure homology can be used to prove Gromov’s proportionality principle of simplicial volume.

NOTES ON THE s-SINGULAR AND t-SINGULAR HOMOLOGIES OF ORBIFOLDS

In a preceding paper we have introduced the t-singular homology with integral coefficient of orbifolds, which captures the orbifold structures. In this paper we introduce the s-singular homology of orbifolds, and study the s-singular homology of orbifolds and the t-singular homology with rational coefficient of orbifolds. The main theorems are the following: (i) the s-singular homology group of...

A Lagrangian Piunikhin-salamon-schwarz Morphism

In this article we explore to what extend the techniques of Piunikhin, Salamon and Schwarz in [PSS96] can be carried over to Lagrangian Floer homology. In [PSS96] the authors establish an isomorphism between Hamiltonian Floer homology and singular homology of the underlying symplectic manifold. In general, Lagrangian Floer homology is not isomorphic to the singular homology of the Lagrangian su...

On Torsion in Homology of Singular Toric Varieties

Let X be a toric variety. Rationally Borel-Moore homology of X is isomorphic to the homology of the Koszul complex A ∗ (X)⊗Λ∗M , where A T ∗ (X) is the equivariant Chow group and M is the character group of T . Moreover, the same holds for coefficients which are the integers with certain primes inverted.

The T-singular Homology of Orbifolds

For an orbifold M we define a homology group, called t-singular homology group t-Hq(M), which depends not only on the topological structure of the underlying space of M , but also on the orbifold structure of M . We prove that it is a b-homotopy invariant of orbifolds. If M is a manifold, t-Hq(M) coincides with the usual singular homology group. We calculate the t-singular homology groups with ...

Khovanov homology is an unknot-detector

We prove that a knot is the unknot if and only if its reduced Khovanov cohomology has rank 1. The proof has two steps. We show first that there is a spectral sequence beginning with the reduced Khovanov cohomology and abutting to a knot homology defined using singular instantons. We then show that the latter homology is isomorphic to the instanton Floer homology of the sutured knot complement: ...
